Welcome
In recent years, cancer care has evolved significantly. Advances in early detection, local treatments and systemic therapies have led to improved survival and transformed cancer into a chronic condition for many. At the same time, patients are increasingly confronted with long-term side effects and complex care needs deeply affecting quality of life. Across the world, healthcare professionals and institutions are turning to integrative oncology to address these challenges — yet in Belgium, the field remains fragmented with limited collaboration between professionals.
The Belgian Society for Integrative Oncology (BelSIO) was established to respond to this gap. Our mission is to serve as an ambassador for integrative oncology in Belgium and to promote the integration of evidence-informed complementary therapies and lifestyle modifications into conventional oncology care, in order to improve the quality of life and overall outcomes of people living with and beyond cancer.
We invite all professionals involved in cancer care to join us in building a more integrative and human-centered oncology landscape in Belgium.

The BelSIO logo
The logo reflects the core values of collaboration, connection, and holistic care for individuals affected by cancer.
The four colorful shapes represent the key pillars of integrative oncology: medical, psychological, social, and complementary care. They converge around a central, warm-colored circle symbolizing the patient, always at the heart of care.
The smooth color transitions highlight the harmonious cooperation between these pillars, while the overall design conveys a sense of positivity and movement. The logo embodies our mission: to promote a holistic approach to cancer care, grounded in science, compassion, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
“Our mission is to create a science-based, collaborative platform where professionals can connect, learn, and innovate - ultimately improving quality of life and outcomes for cancer patients.”
Dr. Natacha Ruyssers, President of BelSIO
